The actuator on my automated valve operates, but the valve won’t turn. Why?

Most likely the valve stem or actuator coupling is broken.

Why doesn’t my valve open or close completely when the actuator operates it?

The electric actuator limit switches or the pneumatic actuator position stops are not correctly adjusted.

When I energize the solenoid on my pneumatic actuated valve, the valve won’t turn. How come?

Probably because there is no air pressure to the solenoid or dirt has jammed it. Also, debris might be trapped inside the valve. Or, the air pressure is not sufficient to operate the actuator. Remember: measure air pressure at the actuator, not at the compressor.

Can I buy an actuator from one manufacturer and mount it to a valve from another manufacturer?

Maybe. First, be sure that the actuator torque output is sufficient to turn the valve reliably. Second, you will have to fabricate a custom mounting bracket and coupling to connect the actuator to the valve.

What happens if I lose power to my electric actuator in the middle of an actuation cycle?

The valve will stop somewhere between full open and close. When power is reapplied to the original circuit, the actuator will complete the cycle.

I ordered a fail open pneumatic actuated valve by mistake. I needed a fail closed one. What can I do?

To make the change just remove the actuator from the valve and turn it, or the valve stem, 90 degrees and remount the actuator.

I’ve installed my automated valve in the line, but now I don’t know if the valve is in the open or closed position. How can I find out?

Remove the actuator from the valve and check the valve stem. Most ball valves have stem flats at right angles to the flow when the valve is in the off position. On butterfly valves check the stem flow arrow marking.

The actuator is wired incorrectly (check the schematic accompanying the actuator), or the external control switch is not the correct type for the actuator.

My electric actuators cycle time is way too fast, can I slow it down?

Not unless you bought it with an optional speed control.

Actuators and solenoid valves require different types of electrical control switches. SPDT for actuators, SPST for solenoids. Check the actuator wiring schematic for the correct wiring and switch type.

De actuator op mijn automatische klep werkt, maar de klep draait niet. Waarom niet?

Waarschijnlijk is de klepsteel of actuatorkoppeling kapot.

Waarom opent of sluit mijn klep niet volledig wanneer de actuator hem bedient?

De eindschakelaars van de elektrische aandrijving of de positieaanslagen van de pneumatische aandrijving zijn niet correct afgesteld.

Wanneer ik de elektromagneet op mijn pneumatisch bediende klep bekrachtig, draait de klep niet. Hoe komt dit?

Waarschijnlijk omdat er geen luchtdruk op de elektromagneet staat of omdat deze door vuil is vastgelopen. Ook kan er vuil vastzitten in het ventiel. Of de luchtdruk is niet voldoende om de actuator te bedienen. Denk eraan: meet de luchtdruk bij de actuator, niet bij de compressor.

Kan ik een actuator van de ene fabrikant kopen en deze op een klep van een andere fabrikant monteren?

Misschien. Ten eerste moet je er zeker van zijn dat het koppel van de actuator voldoende is om de klep betrouwbaar te laten draaien. Ten tweede moet je een aangepaste montagebeugel en koppeling maken om de actuator met de klep te verbinden.

Wat gebeurt er als ik de stroom naar mijn elektrische actuator verlies in het midden van een actuatiecyclus?

De klep stopt ergens tussen volledig openen en sluiten. Wanneer er weer spanning op het oorspronkelijke circuit wordt gezet, zal de actuator de cyclus voltooien.

Ik heb per ongeluk een pneumatisch bediende klep besteld die niet open kan. Ik had een gesloten klep nodig. Wat kan ik doen?

Om de actuator te vervangen, verwijdert u deze van de klep en draait u deze, of de klepsteel, 90 graden en monteert u de actuator opnieuw.

Ik heb mijn automatische klep in de leiding geïnstalleerd, maar nu weet ik niet of de klep in de open of gesloten stand staat. Hoe kan ik daar achter komen?

Verwijder de actuator van de klep en controleer de klepsteel. Bij de meeste kogelkleppen staat de platte stang loodrecht op de flow wanneer de klep in de uit-stand staat. Controleer bij vlinderkleppen de pijlmarkering op de stang.

Moet ik de magneetklep die de luchttoevoer naar mijn pneumatische aandrijving regelt direct op de aandrijving monteren?

Hoe sluit ik mijn elektrische actuator aan?

Controleer het elektrische bedradingsschema dat bij de actuator is geleverd voor de juiste aansluiting. Soms zit er een kopie in het deksel van de actuator. Als het ontbreekt, moet u niet gissen naar de aansluitingen. Bel de fabrikant voor een schema.

Ik heb net een elektrisch bediende klep geïnstalleerd en als ik hem van stroom voorzie, draait hij de klep 360 graden en sluit hij niet af. Wat is er mis? Wat is er aan de hand?

De actuator is verkeerd aangesloten (controleer het schema bij de actuator), of de externe bedieningsschakelaar is niet het juiste type voor de actuator.

De cyclustijd van mijn elektrische actuator is veel te snel, kan ik deze vertragen?

Niet tenzij je hem hebt gekocht met een optionele snelheidsregeling.

Ik heb net een magneetventiel vervangen door een elektrisch bediend ventiel en het werkt niet. Waarom niet?

Actuators en magneetventielen vereisen verschillende soorten elektrische regelschakelaars. SPDT voor actuators, SPST voor magneetventielen. Controleer het bedradingsschema van de actuator voor de juiste bedrading en het juiste type schakelaar.
